This outing was participated by around 23 members. It commenced with an enjoyable lunchtime meal provided by the lovely staff at the Hotel Beauséjour in Sainte-Suzanne. Afterwards we convened outsite the Basilica in Evron for an informative guided tour.

LUNCH IN SAINTE-SUZANNE

We start our outing with a 3-course meal in a restaurant situated in the heart of Sainte Suzanne one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France.
Then join us for a guided tour of Evron Basilica “A jewel of architecture from the Middle Ages”. It is build using the romanesque and gothic styles. The abbey was founded in the 7th Century.
Inside discover many features such as its Romanesque nave and Gothic chancel. The Chapel houses several tapestries from the 17th Century showing scenes from the Old Testament. The centrepiece of the basilica is a magnificent statue of Our Lady of the Thorn, made of oak and decorated with silver strips, created in the 13th century.
